What is lymphatic massage, and what is Lymphatic Recovery?

Lymphatic massage is a gentle, rhythmic style of bodywork. Many people know it as lymphatic drainage massage. At Kuku Spa we call our version Lymphatic Recovery. It is designed to support your body's natural lymphatic flow and circulation, and guests choose it as part of their personal wellness routines, for relaxation and circulation support.

Kuku Spa offers relaxation and wellness bodywork only. It is not a medical treatment.

How is Lymphatic Recovery different from a regular massage?

Our front desk puts it this way: a muscle massage uses medium to deep pressure to release tight, sore muscles, while lymphatic massage uses a very light touch. The strokes are slow and rhythmic and gently move the skin, supporting your body's natural lymphatic flow. All of it is done by hand, with no machines.

If you are not sure which suits you, tell our front desk what you are looking for and they will help you choose between Lymphatic Recovery and our other bodywork sessions.

Which Lymphatic Recovery sessions can I book?

There are three sessions, so you can choose the length and focus that suits your visit:

  • Face & Head Drainage (40 minutes, $90). A focused session for the face and head, using a gua sha tool. You only need to remove your top.

  • Body Lymphatic Therapy (60 minutes, $120). Covers the neck, underarms, shoulders, arms, back, and abdomen. It does not include the head or legs.

  • Full Body Reset (90 minutes, $180). Our most complete session, covering the face, head, and body, with more time for an unhurried treatment.

Prices do not include gratuity. You can see the full menu on our [Services page].

Can I combine Lymphatic Recovery with other services?

Yes. Our Lymphatic Journeys pair lymphatic bodywork with another service in one visit:

  • Facial + Lymphatic Body, 60 minutes, $110. A 30-minute classic facial and 30 minutes of lymphatic body work.

  • Facial + Lymphatic Body, 90 minutes, $180. A 30-minute classic facial and the full 60-minute lymphatic body session.

  • Foot + Lymphatic Body, 60 minutes, $110. 30 minutes of foot care and 30 minutes of lymphatic body work.

  • Foot + Lymphatic Body, 90 minutes, $160. 30 minutes of foot care and the full 60-minute lymphatic body session.

The facial in a Journey is our classic facial, not Face & Head Drainage. The lymphatic body work is usually done first, followed by the facial or foot care, and the order can be adjusted. Tell the front desk in advance if you have a preference. In the 60-minute versions, your specialist focuses the lymphatic work on the areas you want most.

What does a Lymphatic Recovery session feel like, and is it painful?

Lymphatic Recovery is not meant to be painful. The strokes are gentle and slow-paced, so guests relax easily and some fall asleep. Many guests find the pressure lighter than they expected, which is completely normal. You can tell your specialist at any time if you would like anything adjusted.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Here is what a first Lymphatic Recovery visit looks like:

  1. Prepare lightly. Drink some water beforehand, use the restroom before your session starts, and avoid a heavy meal right before, especially for body sessions, which include the abdomen.

  2. Arrive about 5 minutes early. Our front desk will help you choose a session.

  3. Undress to your comfort level. For body sessions, you undress down to your underwear, and disposable underwear is available at the front desk. For Face & Head Drainage, you only remove your top.

  4. You are draped throughout. A sheet covers you, and only the area being treated is uncovered.

  5. Speak up. You can ask your specialist to adjust anything at any time.

  6. Enjoy a cup of tea, and stay hydrated afterward. Complimentary tea is available before or after your session.

Who should check with a healthcare provider first?

Please check with your doctor before booking if you are pregnant, have had recent surgery, or have a medical condition. If you are pregnant, get approval from your OB, tell the front desk when you book, and remind your specialist before the session. If you have had recent surgery, get your surgeon's approval first. Let your specialist know before the session if you have a heart or circulatory condition, open wounds, an infection, or allergies.

Kuku Spa offers relaxation and wellness bodywork only and does not provide medical treatment.
